Athens World Poetry Festival
28 September 2026 – 1 October 2026
- Athens, Greece -
Organised by
The Athens World Poetry Festival is organized by the literary organization Poets’ Circle. For one week, the city is transformed into a vast poetic canvas, with simultaneous events taking place at various locations, combining poetry and music.
When the Poets’ Circle was founded in 2012, its primary goal was to promote the continuous and public engagement of poetry with a wider audience. Within this framework, the Athens World Poetry Festival was established, and since then it has featured internationally renowned poets from around the world, alongside a selection of Greek poets.
During the festival, numerous public events—such as readings, workshops, music performances, visual arts, and more—are hosted at venues across the city, allowing poetry to become a vital part of everyday life. The festival highlights the importance of poetry in today’s world, while also contributing to the international promotion of Greek poetry, fostering dialogue between different traditions, and showcasing Greek cultural heritage abroad.
