The 'Four Seasons & War' is a meditation through poetry on the seasons and war by Anto Kerins. It concludes with the poem 'The Message'. Russia invaded Ukraine on the 24 February 2022 (spring in Ireland). This was the largest attack on a European country since World War II. Hamas attacked Israel on the 7 October 2023 (autumn in Ireland). This led to the most significant military escalation in the region since the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
The video is an extract taken from the double triptych of the same name. Triptych 1: 'Spring - War - Summer' contains three panels of poetry and images. Spring is interrupted by the war in Ukraine in the second panel. Then summer follows as the year progresses. Triptych 2: 'Autumn - War - Winter'. Autumn is interrupted by the start of a new war in the second panel. Then winter follows. (Spring in calendar terms in Ireland is February-April, summer May-July and winter November-January.)
The project is part of the subthemes Global unity and shared futures.
